Connect to open additional hours following Mother and Baby Homes Commission Statement

Connect is available to provide free telephone-based counselling to anyone impacted by today’s Commission of Investigation Statement regarding a significant number of baby remains in Tuam.

The service will open for additional hours this weekend following the announcement. Normal opening hours are Wednesday to Sunday 6-10pm. During the coming days Connect’s opening times will be:

  • Friday 3rd March to Sunday 5th March, 5pm-12midnight
  • Monday 6th March to Sunday 12th March, 6-10pm

Connect provides professional telephone based counselling and support to survivors of abuse at freephone 1800 477 477 from the Republic of Ireland and 00800 477 477 77 from Northern Ireland and the UK.

Connect Manager Theresa Merrigan said: “Times of public focus on neglect, abuse and trauma can awaken great distress and upset for people who have been affected and the Connect service is available to support these people.”
