Connect counselling available for those impacted by launch of Inquiry

Connect is available to provide free telephone-based counselling to anyone impacted by today’s launch of the Historical Institutional Abuse Inquiry in Northern Ireland.

Connect provides professional telephone based counselling and support to survivors of abuse at freephone 00800 477 477 77 from Northern Ireland and the UK and1800 477 477 from the Republic of Ireland.

Connect’s lines are open from 6-10pm Wednesday to Sunday for adults who experienced family, institutional or clerical abuse in Ireland. It is also available for Irish abuse survivors who live in Northern Ireland or the UK. Connect is free from all UK landlines and most mobiles.

Connect Manager Theresa Merrigan said times of public focus on child abuse can awaken distress and upset for people who have been affected and the Connect service is available to support these people.
