Connect counselling available for those impacted by Historical Abuse Inquiry

Connect is available to provide free telephone-based counselling to anyone impacted by announcements regarding the Historical Institutional Abuse Inquiry in Northern Ireland.

The Inquiry has announced details that this week it is to commence the next stage of its work with investigations into the former De La Salle Boys’ Home at Rubane House, Kircubbin, Co. Down.

Connect provides professional telephone based counselling and support to survivors of abuse at freephone 00800 477 477 77 from Northern Ireland and the UK. It is also available at 1800 477 477 from the Republic of Ireland. Connect is free from all UK landlines and most mobiles.

Connect’s lines are open from 6-10pm Wednesday to Sunday for Irish abuse survivors who now live in Northern Ireland or the UK.

Connect Manager Theresa Merrigan said times of public focus on child abuse can awaken distress and upset for people who have been affected and the Connect service is available to support these people.
